Mixed Media: Seeds of Life

Mixed Media: Seeds of Life
LIMITED EDITION Winter 2025 Mixed Media Collection
I am so excited to introduce my brand new MIXED MEDIA collection this season! In all my art forms, I’m intrigued by mixed media — combining works on paper with ceramics, or paper and plastics, for instance. A lifelong lover of textiles, I began experimenting with incorporating woven elements into my wearable art over the summer. I began collecting sewn appliques and seeing how I could tie these textile pieces into the acrylic forms of my earrings.
This first Mixed Media collection uses appliques made for Indian saris. These appliques are handmade, and therefore they’re all slightly different. Much like my work, each piece is imperfect: you can see the human hand at work. Expect variation in each.
While variation and the visible human hand is exactly what I wanted visually, it presented a bit of a design problem, since the outline of each piece is similar but unique. I really enjoyed problem-solving with these pieces, and by working backwards, I found a way to embed them, creating a small nest or frame of sorts with my acrylic pieces and then linking those nests/frames together to create the shapes you see here.
The forms I designed are at once recognizable and abstract: while I see a vessel, a tapestry, a set of seed pods, you might see something completely different.
I hope you enjoy this Limited Edition 2025 MIXED MEDIA collection.

All my jewelry begins with pen and paper — I think of these earrings as wearable drawings. Asymmetry and an uneven line reminds the wearer that they were made by human hand.

Size: about 4.7” long, 2.2” wide.
Note: colors vary according to computer screen, light filtering in on the day these photos were taken, etc. It’s impossible to capture color accurately on the screen— if you have questions about a color please contact me.
U.S. orders only, please. Contact me for international shipping options.
CARE:
Clean when needed with a microfiber cloth. Be gentle! Although acrylic is durable, it is not indestructible. Please be especially careful with small and delicate designs. Avoid perfume and sprays as it may damage the surface of the acrylic. If your design includes painted areas, avoid water. Most importantly: wear with joy!
